When was the last time you looked into a mirror and didn’t like something you saw. A scar, a bump, something out of your control. Most of you have had to have a tough conversation with yourself about how you view yourself. What’s worse is when you walk into a room and feel that people are looking at you with that same level of disgust. Nobody would wish that feeling on somebody else. Yet, this world oftens shows that same level of hate to different groups that are not like them. When you see this happening empathize and react with the care you desire for someone to give to you. Normalize and validate those experiencing hate and racism. Be self aware, so when you are being less compassionate, you can intentionally make the adjustment and help others to do the same. You can all assist those around you develop a positive self image by demonstrating to them their identity matters. Hate isn’t normal. We have gotten so accustomed to it’s existence that we don’t speak out.
