RATED R: Week 3 "Body Image"
1m 7s
You all know somebody who struggles with their own body image. They think they are too big, or too little, too tall or too short. Sometimes it can get so bad it leads to disorders like bulimia, anorexia and compulsive eating because people are wrestling with their own insecurities. As a society, people can be insulting in how they make a person feel about their own anatomy. Maybe you have said things to other students that added to their current issues mentally. You cannot go back and retract things you have said in the past but you can control what will come out of your mouth in the future. Besides, your body is unique and different, on purpose. This is why you have to be careful about how you communicate your thoughts about someone else. You don’t know the internal battle they fight regularly to gain their own confidence! One of the kindest things you can ever do is to help people feel safe in their own skin.
