“I still have memories of past pain that still stain all I put my hands to. I am made from mistakes, made of mistakes, afraid to make a mistake.” In this poem, the author illustrates how difficult it is to forget the past and move into the future. Too often, you may find yourself wrestling with the memories and mistakes that you have made. Your past shouldn’t be the thing that is keeping you from your dreams; it should become the foundation to birth forth your destiny. Your history can hold you hostage, but you must remind yourself that it is only memories, and it doesn’t have to define you right now. The beautiful thing is, it can show how much stronger you have become. To remind you that you survived even when it seemed impossible. To resource you to continue to overcome in this war, we call life. Remember, you are not your past; you are the warrior that rose above it.
